A hill station of North Kerala and Jwell of the Gods own country,Kerala. Formed by two word ' Vayal ' ' Nadu ‘means the Paddy and Land. So Vayal Nadu comes as Wayanad. The place situated in the Western Ghats with 700 to 2100 meters above sea level. Dense forest, valleys and natural resources enriched in wayanad. Coffee, Tea, Coco, Vanila crops grown here. Famous for its large amount of camping and trekking trials.,breath taking watter falls,Caves ,flora , fauna nad overall plethora of wonderfull sights. Viz, Edakkal caves, Chembra peak, Kuruva Dweep. Soochippara and Meenmutty water falls. Two Wildlife sanctuaries, Tholpetty and Muthanga. October to May is the best season and December to February is much cooler. The District was carved out of Kozhikode and Kannur in 1980. Capital is Kalpeta.
